Common Injury Symptoms After a Car Accident
Even with all the safety technology in place today, auto accident injuries can never be totally avoided. If you’ve been in an auto accident, make sure to get checked out by our Longview chiropractor Dr. Gary Lipkin here at Longview Chiropractic Clinic. The sooner you receive treatment, the better your recovery outcome. Some injuries and symptoms manifest quickly, while others can take up to a few months to set in, including injuries like whiplash. Common injury symptoms to watch out for after a car accident include:
Headache
The most common auto accident injury is whiplash, which comes with a whole host of symptoms, including headaches. Headaches can also be a sign of a concussion or other traumatic brain injuries (TBI), or it could be due to stress. Dr. Lipkin can evaluate you and advise on precautionary measures.
Neck or Back Pain
Neck pain is another sign of whiplash. It could also be a sign of soft tissue injury or nerve damage.
Cognitive Changes
It can be quite traumatic to go through an auto accident to the point where you may be afraid to get in a car ever again. Auto accidents can lead to anxiety, PTSD, depression, mood swings, difficulty concentrating, and memory issues. Some of these are purely psychological while others are signs of concussion or other TBIs.
Numbness and/or Tingling
Numbness and tingling can occur with or without pain, and you’re always going to want to get these symptoms checked out. It’s a sign of inflammation and injury.
